June 28th, 2008

I’ve been kicking around the idea of doing game reviews for a long, long time, and now I’m finally getting around to it. Here’s my test run, a review of /reaction to Little Nemo: The Dream Master.

Hit the break to check it out.

Trunks and Soto 3.0

June 7th, 2008

I decided to completely revamp the Trunks and Soto site, and I’m personally very pleased with the end result. It’s slick, it looks the same between Firefox and Internet Explorer, and it’s easy to update. I’ve even got an art banner on the left side that I can replace on the fly with new art, purely for fun. It’s missing a couple of things, but otherwise it’s complete, and fantastic. Pretty good for the first site I built by myself in a long time.

Loving the Press

June 4th, 2008

This post is mostly for my own self gratification, but Love has been seeing some press, and I want to publicly thank them. The press, that is.

I guess at this point it’s easy to call Love an indie game. I guess it is Indie, even though I never thought of it like that. Indie sounds so hipster/scene. To me indie conjurs thoughts of Deathcab for Cutie, y’know, before Transatlantacism (a great album, no question).

I’d still love to get some press by the gaming news sites that I read religiously (aside from Destructoid), but who knows.

Again, the game is finally up for legitimate digital distribution via Lulu, meaning I don’t have to actively hand out e-mails to people. Thank god.

If you run a review site, want to review Love, or know someone who would want to review Love and post it in a public space, let me know, and I can whip out the complimentary passes for the download.

Love [Release]

May 24th, 2008

Well, at long last, the game is done. God knows how long I spent making this thing, but it is done.

Five level Demo available here, or if that doesn’t work in your country, here.

As mentioned before, the game will cost a dollar for the full version, which has 20 levels, 4 hidden levels, 11 tracks from James Bennett (mostly never before heard), 7 endings, and 3 MP3’s from the sound track.

If you’re interested in purchasing the game, the only cost is a single dollar through Lulu’s crazy digital distribution solution. I’m not a big fan of it because it takes a 20 percent bite out of the purchase (leaving me with 80 cents, not even enough for a double cheeseburger with no cheese from McDonalds). So, excited? You should be. Buy it now!

If you want to give that 20 cents to me that Lulu has stolen away, I do accept donations via Paypal.

edit: I’ve gotten clamorings for a sequel, but I don’t think a full-fledged continuation of this metaphor is entirely necessary. I do plan on releasing individual levels in the future for little to no cost. Who knows, maybe James Bennett will keep doing music for it as well.

I’ll be shot for this one for sure.

Love is in the Air

May 18th, 2008

At long last, Love is almost entirely content ready, and is ready for its rigorous beta testing phase. Here are the features of the game

20 Levels of ranging Difficulty
4 Secret Levels
7 Different Endings
11 Musical Pieces by James Bennett (including several new/unreleased tracks)

So, as mentioned before and above, I’m currently looking for competent PC Users who want to test the hell out of the Love private beta. Requirements are:

-The ability to play Love on any computer or machine running Windows
-Enough competency to elaborate on any bugs or glitches found in the game
-Basic Hand-Eye Coordination
-Enough free time to devote to this game
-Desire to actually help this game’s development
-Be trustworthy enough not to give this unreleased game to everyone on the planet.

Those interested should contact me via a well written E-Mail explaining why you want to play the game. The perks are that you’ll get to play Love before anyone else, and you’ll get a copy of the finished version as well.

E-mails should be sent to thatsmytrunks@gmail.com.

Oh so f***ed. Now taking commissions.

Level 17

May 8th, 2008

Love - Level 17

Level 17 is done, and is quite possibly my favorite level, because it actually made me throw my hands into the air. Seriously, I threw my own hands into the air. It’s neat because it has three different bounce pads in this one, with three different strengths of thrust. Trust me, you’ll need them on this one, as it’s more than double the size of any level I’ve put out so far.

To read about the release (or lackthereof), hit the jump. It has distribution information and all that.

Digital Imaging, a Semester in Thumbnails

May 6th, 2008

So here it is, end of the 2008 Spring Semester, I’m finishing up four classes, and I’ve decided to share a collection of work that I did throughout the semester in my Digital Imaging (fancy way of saying Photoshop) class. While I don’t claim to be a master in the realm of Photoshop, the class was a little less of a learn new things as much as it was a remember how to do this, and go do X, where X is a project that our teacher had given us.

Since pictures speak ever so much louder than words, hit the read the rest of this entry link, which I will furthermore refer to as “after the jump”.

Trunks and Soto #116 - On the Road Again

May 3rd, 2008

New Trunks and Soto posted, and while it’s not the most hilarious one yet (not really all that funny, actually), it is the first I’ve done since the creation of this blog, as well as being a very fancy one. Go take a look, and then come right back. Prolonged exposure to Trunks and Soto may cause radiating awesome.
